Best Practices

The term "Best Practice" has been used to describe "what works" in a particular situation or environment.  As good consumers of information, we must keep in mind that a particular practice for out-of-school youth that has worked for someone within a given set of variables may or may not yield the same results when implemented in different Migrant Education Programs (MEPs) in various states.

You will find descriptions, listed by the title of the program/practice, of successful MEP program/practices dealing with secondary-aged migrant out-of-school youth. The description may relate to a successful Identification and Recruitment (ID&R) practice, to a model for service delivery, to an instructional strategy, etc. The write-ups are identified as a Best Practice for “Recovery Youth” or “Here-to-Work Youth”.  Each Best Practice lists the type of program/practice, the contact person and his/her information, a brief description of the program/practice, the resources needed and the reason why the practice has proven successful.
