Migrant students and their families are often highly mobile, Migrant Education Programs have to be skilled in finding migrant students and youth in a quick and effective manner. Much of a recruiter’s time is spent out in the “field”. This document, we will outline “field” recruitment as recruitment of migrant students and their families that takes place outside of the local school district.

ID&R Community Summary Questionnaire Template for OSY is a questionnaire template for use when identifying and recruiting secondary-aged out-of-school youth. It was developed by the Tennessee Migrant Education Program which has been successfully using this questionnaire for a number of years.

Out-of-School Youth Networking Basics for Migrant Education Programs is a compilation of proven strategies that work when coordinating with other entities to serve the out-of-school youth population. This document was developed by the North Carolina Migrant Education Program, an SOSY consortium member state that has implemented these strategies successfully.
