SOSY Consortium Team Support Structure
There are 3 groups to provide support to the SOSY Consortium as described in our proposal:
- a State Steering Team with a representative from each Consortium State who will review key project materials make suggestions for their enhancement or improvement;
- a Technical Team consisting of nationally recognized experts in out-of-school youth known for their work with this population or technical issues such as credit accrual/retrieval, ID&R, “Here-to-Work” and “Recovery” youth, etc.
State Steering Team Membership: Consists of the State MEP Director or his/her representative from all of the Consortium States (Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas (lead), Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire,
New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin). Additionally, Alsaka, Arkansas, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas are partner States that are willing to review SOSY products and share their comments with the overall Consortium. This team will meet once each year in conjunction with the National MEP Conference. They will receive all materials, Leadership Team meeting minutes, and be included in all key correspondence and conference calls.
Technical Team Membership: Consists of individuals nominated by Consortium State MEP Directors. The SOSY Technical Team will share their expertise on out-of-school youth, provide advice to the State Steering Team, provide training or share training materials with their State Directors to (1) improve MEP staff skills for meeting the educational needs of
migrant out-of-school youth; (2) be ongoing, hands-on, and of high quality; and (3) give MEP staff the knowledge and skills they need to improve their instructional practices to impact student achievement.
Supporting partners and resources have the capacity to elevate services to OSY including community colleges, HEP/CAMP programs, National PASS Center, and the Migrant Health Program as well as those who we may consult because of their community/State influence including migrant/seasonal farmworker programs, local providers/community organizations, community health networks, local employers of migrant out-of-school youth.
